Objectives:
The Research Promotion Scheme of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur aims to nurture research culture in the institute by promoting research in newly emerging and challenging areas of science and engineering. It encourages the Undergraduate, Post graduate and Doctoral degree candidates to undertake the research in newly emerging frontier areas of science and engineering including multidisciplinary fields. This enhances the general research capability of budding technocrats by way of participating in conferences, seminars, workshops, project competition, etc.

Activities:

1. R&D fund allocation & creation of R&D facilities.
2. R & D promotion activities of Staff and Students such participating in conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.
3. To promote & keeping track of research publications in conferences and journals.
4. Registration of candidates for ME by research and Ph.D.
5. Encouraging research proposals for external funding agencies and filing of patents.
6. Designing norms for promoting research & incentives for motivation

4. Externally funded research projects in the form of RPS/MODROBS from AICTE and other agencies like DST, CSIR, etc.

R&D Initiatives:
Initiatives for Under graduate Students

1. Students are encouraged to participate in workshops, seminars, paper presentation and project competitions.
2. They are motivated to undertake industry based projects.
3. Registration fees and one way fare for National conference/workshop/seminar is provided to students.
4. For SC/ST/OBC students, registration fees and two way fare is provided.
5. Winner Students are provided with 100% financial assistance as regards registration fees and traveling expenses.
6. Few students have been provided fund for participation even in International events.

Initiatives for Postgraduate Students

1. It is mandatory to undertake dissertation work pertaining to live industrial problems/cutting edge technologies.
2. They are required to refer minimum 5 journal/transaction papers for finalizing the topic for dissertation.
3. Monthly progress seminars are conducted to assess the work.
4. External experts are being called for the evaluation of the quality of the work during the year & at the time of topic selection.
5. Before submission of the final dissertation, students are required to publish one paper in reputed international conference/journal
6. Guest lectures and industrial visits are regularly organised to focus on thrust areas.
7. 100% Financial assistance is provided for publishing the paper in journal.
8. 100% Financial assistance for developing the experimental setups for the dissertation work.

Initiatives for Ph.D Scholars

1. Pre-registration seminar is organised at the departmental level.
2. Six monthly progress seminars are conducted wherein external experts in relevant field from reputed institutes/industries are called for review.
3. Students are encouraged to submit research proposal to external funding agencies on the topic of their research along with guide.
4. Financial assistance is provided for experimental work, purchase of books/equipments and publishing the research papers in journals and conferences.
5. Students are required to submit six monthly progress reports and future plan of work.
6. Students are sent to IITs/NITs for their knowledge up-gradation.
7. Patent awareness program is regularly arranged.

Initiatives for Faculties

1. Financial assistance in terms of registration fees, TA/DA, etc for participation in National & International conferences (India and Abroad), workshops, seminars etc.
2. Faculties are deputed fulltime for pursuing Ph.D with 75% salary.
3. They are given 1-2 months leave for the Ph.D thesis writing work.
4. Faculty members awarded Ph.D degree are felicitated.
5. Publication charges given for publishing any number of papers in journals.
6. 5% incentive to faculty for research grant from AICTE or other external funding agencies of Govt. of India. Along with it 2% incentive to principal, 1% to HOD and 1% to R&D cell and Admin staff.
7. For chairing technical session/invitation as keynote speaker in International Conferences, financial aid of upto 100% can be given subject to departmental budget.
8. Management extends full supports for the additional fund required for the completion of the Externally funded projects.
9. Faculties are sent to IITs/NITs for their knowledge up-gradation.
10. Encouraged to file Patents and financial assistance is provided for the same.
11. Departmental R&D budget supports research activities in the department.
